The Flip 5.12 software seems to only allow setting the Flip camera's recording date up to the year 2020. Has anyone found a solution? Ideally an update to the software?

Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a solution to this issue. The Flip 5.12 software only allows setting the Flip camera's recording date up to the year 2020.
I can't download the videos due to a missing flipshare.db. What is its format so that I can create a replacement? Is there a template for download?

To replace the missing FlipShare Data file, you can download a template from the FlipShare website. The format of the file is SQLite, which is a common database format.
Has any luddite who still has a Flipshare camera noticed that it seems to have problems connecting and autostarting the Flipshare program now it is 2021? Also It seems to lock up file manager when trying to get videos of it. A real shame as for a bit of cheap tech, its served me well for 8 years.

It appears that there may be some compatibility issues with the FlipShare program on Windows 10 in 2021. It seems to have trouble connecting and autostarting, and it also locks up file manager when trying to access videos. This could be a frustrating experience for users who still have a Flipshare camera.
No, the libraries will be automatically imported with the new version of the program. If the files were stored outside of FlipShare library, you can recover them using Recover other FlipShare files tool. You can find this option in the Help menu.
I have Windows 10 and FlipShare freezes when I launch it: "The error message offers the following. Debug message points to a deleted file. Deleted." I have also moved the majority of my videos to an external hard drive. Where and how can I change to point to new location?

This application is bundled with various devices. I've tried to download it to test its compatibility, but it wasn't possible. Secondly, there is no update or news related to its compatibility which could also mean that the application might be discontinued, therefore compatibility with Windows 10 might not exist at all.
However, right click it first and go to Properties > Compatibility. Select a previous version of Windows from the list and run the software that way.
Additionally, go to Help and look for information related to your inquiry since I couldn't find anything about it.
If you have installed the application, go to Device manager and check to see if there are no devices left uninstalled. Use Start > Run > devmgmt.msc to access that section. If there is something in yellow, right-click it and select Update Driver, then let Windows install the device.
Secondly, remove the software and everything related to the application, insert the CD or attach the device to another USB port and initiate the installation through Autorun or using the the drive newly created in the Computer/My Computer.
A reinstallation will replace the files and possibly fix the connection issues.
I have a Flip MinoHD camera. I'm working on a video project for school and I need to access the videos I have recorded on my camera, but I don't have the software to do so. When I plug my camera to the computer nothing even comes up. I was expecting the FlipShare to install itself, but it didn't. Where can I download the FlipShare software? I don't have a Mac. This is a Dell Inspiron 1525 PC and I don't know if the software is compatible.

You can visit Software Informer review page of the product in order to obtain an official link to download the FlipShare software. Click the green Download button, save the file to your Dell Inspiron 1525 computer and install the utility following the on-screen instructions. The software is fully compatible with all major Windows platforms. If the Flip MinoHD camera is not recognized by the software or by your computer, disconnect it from your PC, press Windows + Pause/Break key combination and open Device Manager. Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers list, right-click on the driver and select Uninstall. Reboot your computer, connect the camera to your PC using the USB cable, press Scan for hardware changes icon from Device Manager and wait for Windows to retrieve the drivers.
When I press the power button a message in the screen reads 'Hold (the red circled button) for set up'. This stays on the screen for about 5 seconds then goes. I have tried two sets of brand new batteries but there is no difference. I have also plugged the camera into a USB port with the same result except that the message keeps on being repeated at short intervals. Any suggestions as to the problem and a solution?

I would recommend to perform a full reinstallation regarding the drivers and the software. You can use Revo Uninstaller. Even if it can't uninstall the application normally, it will force it to uninstall by wiping out all traces of its presence from the system.
Once you finish with the uninstall part, reboot the PC and then use the setup package and reinstall the drivers. I would check the Device Manager as well. Press Windows +R and type devmgmt.msc. Make sure that the device is not connected to PC.
My program doesn't work as before. I've got a message that something was removed and there would be an error. What should I do?

If you receive a message about missing components of the program, it means that the files were removed from their original location making the original product unusable. Try uninstalling the application and then installing it again. This should fix it.
I want to share the video on YouTube after downloading the video to my library, but when I click in the box, it keeps saying I'm not connected to the Internet. I don't understand that. Can you help?

The application has been discontinued which means you are using an application that isn't supported anymore. This is the reason you receive errors related to Internet connectivity. Right click the setup package or the executable file, then choose Properties > Compatibility. Make sure you choose Windows XP Service Pack 3. Right click the file again and launch it as Administrator. The error should disappear by now. However, if you still receive errors, then it means the software is lacking support for the operating system installed on your computer.
